A2X Newsletter | Our top 3 ecommerce accounting resources so far

In a sea of AI content, we do our best to keep our ears to the ground for the A2X Newsletter and focus on topics we’re best positioned to tackle – a.k.a., anything related to ecommerce accounting.

I had initially planned to write about our award-winning Partner Program (look for that in an upcoming newsletter), but coincidentally, a few members of said Partner Program had recently reached out to me with requests for our ecommerce accounting templates and checklists. So, how could I not make a last-minute change? After all, if our Partners are looking for these resources, we think you should be able to find them, too.

In this edition of the A2X Newsletter, I’m highlighting our 3 best ecommerce accounting checklists and templates so far.

We partnered with leaders in ecommerce accounting to develop these resources, so they can provide value whether you’re just starting to take on ecommerce clients, you’re a seasoned ecommerce accounting pro, or you’re somewhere in between. And hopefully they’re landing in your inbox with good timing, given December is often an ideal month for planning and process optimization.

1. The ESSENTIAL Onboarding Checklist for Ecommerce Clients

Why it made the top 3:

What it helps you do:
This resource is designed to help you set your practice and clients up for long-term ecommerce bookkeeping success. It goes deep, covering every onboarding step imaginable, plus helpful bonuses like onboarding email samples and Amazon/Shopify Chart of Accounts templates. Even if you have your own checklist, this is worth reviewing for fresh ideas.

2. The ESSENTIAL Monthly Bookkeeping Checklist for Ecommerce Clients

Why it made the top 3:

What it helps you do:
This resource covers your foundational steps for accurate ecommerce bookkeeping. It includes everything you and your clients should consider on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. Although it skews slightly North American, I know more than a handful of practices around the world that have adapted it successfully.

3. The BEST (my subjective opinion) Inventory Accounting Workflow for Ecommerce

Why it made the top 3:

  • Although the workflow was just released this week, the topic was a keynote session at Camp A2X 2024 → a community event where we bring together the top ecommerce accountants and bookkeepers in the world
  • Brittany Brown, founder of LedgerGurus, spent months thinking about this session and mapping out the essential steps in an inventory accounting workflow for ecommerce
  • The resource is available as a customizable Google Sheet
  • Brittany Brown is delivering a live webinar on Wednesday, December 11th at 3PM ET to guide you through the workflow and how to fill it in for your practice

What it helps you do:
Inventory accounting is a pain. We all know this. But it doesn’t have to be. This Google Sheet breaks down every step in an inventory accounting workflow, allows you to assign ownership, clarify dependencies, and highlight the tech to use for each step. This version of the workflow is meant to be customizable, allowing you, your team, and clients to collaborate. (If you’re interested in seeing the worksheet filled out for a particular inventory accounting use case, contact us to let us know!)

Happy planning

I hope you find value in these ecommerce accounting checklists and templates. At the very least, they can provide some inspiration while you’re in the throes of planning and process optimization this December.

As mentioned, we’d love to hear from you. What should we cover in our upcoming editions of the A2X Newsletter?
