Introducing the New Shopify Reconciliation Report by A2X
The Shopify Reconciliation Report is now available in Beta.
This new report has been described as a ‘game-changer’ for Shopify bookkeeping, making your Shopify reconciliations even more accurate. It allows you to compare your Shopify data with A2X, identifies discrepancies at an order level, and gives you complete confidence your numbers tie back.
It’s the best thing to happen to Shopify accounting… well, since A2X.
Watch the webinar recording below to get more details about the Shopify Reconciliation Report.
Why we built the Shopify Reconciliation Report
Accounting for Shopify is challenging, no ifs, ands, ors about it.
The platform’s strength in customization, and its array of available apps for payment processing and order modifications, make for a great customer experience. That said, that exact customization strength often contributes to accounting complexity.
These challenges stem from complicated orders, the impact of third-party apps, and ongoing changes within Shopify’s API, which can all introduce discrepancies in your financial data. Recognizing these hurdles, we saw the need for a more targeted solution to aid Shopify sellers in their reconciliation efforts.
Despite A2X’s core capabilities, we recognize that discrepancies can still occur, which is why we’ve developed the Shopify Reconciliation Report. This new feature allows users to drill down into individual orders to identify and rectify any differences between Shopify data and A2X summaries.
Benefits at a glance
This “game-changing” tool goes beyond standard reconciliation by:
- Providing a detailed comparison between your Shopify data and the records in A2X, ensuring every aspect of your financial data aligns.
- Identifying and listing specific orders that contribute to any discrepancies, along with potential reasons for these differences, offering actionable insights for resolution.
- Addressing the unique complexities introduced by Shopify’s customizable nature and the diverse ecosystem of apps and payment gateways.
How it works
Our goal in building this report was to empower Shopify sellers and their accounting partners with a tool that not only identifies discrepancies but also provides clarity on the underlying causes, making the reconciliation process more manageable and accurate. Here is an overview of how the report works:
- Data Upload: Users start by uploading a CSV file from Shopify that details their transactions for a selected period.
- Report Generation: A2X processes this data and generates a report, highlighting any discrepancies between Shopify and A2X data.
- Detailed Analysis: Users can then delve into specific orders to understand the nature of these discrepancies, whether they stem from Shopify changes, unique transaction scenarios, or third-party app integrations.
